Star Wars figures stolen from storage space found on the shelves of a Springfield Vintage Stock

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A Springfield man and his son made a surprising discovery while shopping. They say some items at an entertainment store looked like theirs, and they later discovered their own collectibles had been stolen.

What started as a routine shopping trip to a Springfield Vintage Stock location led to Joshua Haslett and his family discovering that his storage unit had been broken into and nearly $8,000 worth of collectibles were missing.

“All the funkos there looked like ours,” said his son Griffin Haslett.

Last Saturday, the two walked into Vintage Stock on Kansas Expressway to pick up some new goods. During this trip something caught their attention. “I told my dad, ‘It looks stolen,’” said 7-year-old Gryffin.

What caught their attention were Star Wars action figures and Funko Pops, which appeared to be from their collection.

” Gryffin starts saying how it looks like my collection. And I thought, ‘No, ours is in storage. It’s not ours.’ But the more I looked at it, the more I thought, “Maybe he’s right.” And then we drove to our storage room,” said the father.

Haslett went to his storage unit in Greene County, where he discovered the lock on his unit was broken. Inside, he discovered that much of the collection he shared with his son Gryffin was missing.

One of the missing items had great sentimental value to the 7-year-old. It was a piece that was a special part of their shared memories.

“(It was) a Pikachu that was signed by the person who played Piachu, and it was also in our storage room,” Gryffin told KY3.

In addition to the discovery, Haslett was told that several units had also been burglarized.

When he returned to the store, he was told the figures could not be recovered until authorities confirmed they had been stolen.

“They said the lady came over the last few weeks to sell a bunch of stuff,” Haslett said. “So every few days she would bring in a bunch of stuff and then sell it, and then go another few days and sell some more.”

Haslett has filed a police report with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and says officers are working to recover all stolen items. He only got a few. We did contact Vintage Stock, but they were not available for an interview.
