Latest Middle East: Number of Iranian soldiers killed in Israeli strikes ‘expected to rise’; Tehran says it has the right to defend itself | World news

According to Reuters news agency, satellite images appear to show overnight Israeli airstrikes on buildings used to mix ballistic missile fuel in Iran.

Citing separate assessments by two US investigators, the sources reported that Israel had hit Parchin, a huge military complex near the capital Tehran, and Khojir, a missile production site.

Decker Eveleth, a research analyst at the Washington think tank CNA, said the Israeli strikes have “significantly hampered Iran’s ability to mass produce missiles.”

Israel said three waves of fighter jets hit missile factories and other sites near Tehran and in the west of the country.

Mr. Eveleth said an image from Planet Labs, a commercial satellite company, shows that an Israeli attack destroyed two buildings in Khojir where solid fuel for ballistic missiles was mixed.

Images from Parchin’s Planet Labs show Israel destroyed three solid-fuel ballistic missile mixing buildings and a warehouse, Mr. Eveleth said.

David Albright, a former U.N. weapons inspector, said he had viewed footage from Parchin that appeared to show an Israeli strike damaging three buildings.

The footage has not been seen by Sky News.
