A dog rescued as a “starving” stray has the best reaction to the first bite of cheese

One dog’s better life after being found as a starving stray was sealed with her first nibble of cheese, and her reaction melted hearts.

Gracie’s entire body appeared to be withered, with ribs sticking out, when she was originally found as a stray dog. Hungry, without a home or family, she walked hesitantly and shook all the time. But fortunately, she moved into a foster home where she received the attention she needed to become healthier and stronger. Gracie received love, treats and lots of new things, including a delicious milky delight.

In a September 22 Instagram video posted to the @thriftedkittens.rescue account, Gracie’s foster mom gave her a small piece of cheese. Her eyes widened with curiosity as she gently took the cheese from her adoptive mother’s hand. Gracie suppressed it and immediately became addicted. Her lips quivered in disbelief, like the delicious taste of cheese. Her tongue danced.

Part of the caption reads: “From a severely emaciated homeless man who couldn’t even stand, to a taste tester of the finest, most exquisite cheeses.”

She couldn’t believe that a piece of food could taste as good as cheese. And it was at that moment that she realized that her days of starving on the streets were long gone.

She then made eye contact with her foster mother as if to ask, “Is that all?” She immediately wanted more cheese.

Owners often give their dogs a piece of cheese as a treat or training tool because it contains protein, calcium, vitamin A, essential fatty acids and B vitamins, according to the American Kennel Club. However, it is best to feed dogs cheese in moderation.

Although it is a delicious snack, cheese is high in fat and too much of it can cause weight gain, obesity or, more seriously, pancreatitis. It’s also important to monitor the type of cheese you feed your dog, as some products may contain ingredients that are toxic to dogs, such as garlic, onion, and chives.

With over 2.7 million views on Instagram, people quickly fell in love with this sweet pooch’s reaction to her first piece of cheese. As of Tuesday, the video had racked up more than 288,000 likes and 1,025 comments.

“Her little brain is getting a major software update about this cheese,” one user said.

Another added: “She’s not sure and needs another part to say.”

A third person chimed in: “Oh she’ll get the cheese tax forever.” And that’s going to happen, considering she was adopted just days after the video was originally posted. Gracie will politely ask for a cheese tax in her forever home.
