I am the dedicated person of my friend group when it comes to technology, which involves a portable speaker, usually a Polaroid camera, and especially a power bank. For a day out or an evening out, a 10,000 mAh portable charger is sufficient. But I prefer at least 20,000 mAh or more for short trips or weekend getaways, as there’s no point in carrying a spare battery on the go if it needs to be plugged into a wall socket every few hours. Ugreen released a $100 25,000mAh beast in April, and from some of the best power banks Testing so far, this one stood out enough to be a travel staple for me.

This is Ugreen’s latest large capacity power bank, with a total power of 140W, PD 3.1 and a total capacity of 25,000 mAh with Nexode technology. Nexode is Ugreen’s own name for GaN technology. GaN, or Gallium Nitride, is the new cool power bank technology that all the portable charger companies are showing off on their products lately. It is a semiconductor material that has several advantages over standard silicon-based chargers. These include a more compact size, faster charging, less heat production and safer in terms of avoiding short circuits or other hazards associated with overcharging.
The latest 25K mAh power bank from Ugreen has three output portswith one of the three (the 140W Type-C) also serving as an input port. The three ports include two Type-C (140W and 65W) and one Type-A (22.5W). However, to get the maximum 140W power from this device, your cable must support PD 3.1, and the device you are charging must support both PD 3.1 and 140W charging.

There is a small LED display that shows the battery percentage of the portable charger, giving you a good idea of how long it will last before it needs to be refilled. The display is next to a button that can be pressed to show or hide the battery status. There is no magnetic charger or stand on the device, both of which are more common on smaller power banks from 5,000 to 10,000 mAh and not usually found on such large power banks.

This beast of a device can charge my completely dead iPhone 12 Pro Max to 100% in one hour and 15 minutes. The best part is that it only drops about 15% to fully replenish my phone. This means it has enough juice to charge my phone about four to five times. This is because a portable charger does not deliver full rated power due to current losses. The company claims it can charge an iPhone 16 5.2 times (which makes sense since a Pro Max model has a larger battery), a Nintendo Switch 4.1 times, and a MacBook Pro once. I used it with my Lenovo Slim 7i laptop and it was able to fully charge it once, with 12% juice left. Its massive 25,000 mAh capacity means it can handle all your devices without charging, and the whopping 140W output also ensures fast charging.

The 505 gram weight of this power bank may sound like a lot, but you’re looking at about the same weight with any portable charger that offers over 20,000 mAh, simply because it needs that space and weight to fit a big enough battery in it. is . At 1.1 inches, it is quite slim compared to other larger and thicker power banks I have come across. It fits easily in a jacket pocket and has a solid, rugged look with a subtle silver finish that makes the $100 price worth it. The latest 25K mAh power bank from Ugreen also meets the requirements of the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and can be safely taken on the plane.
