Nicky Hilton Rothschild is a superstar mom!

Juggling her career as a fashion designer and mother of three children hasn’t always been easy. Nicky told PEOPLE in March 2023 that she remains committed to “establishing equal parenting” between herself and her husband.

“Balancing my children and my fashion design business is an endless battle,” she admitted. “But it is important to set a good example for the children from the start.”

Nicky and James’ first child, Lily-Grace, was born on July 8, 2016, almost exactly a year after their wedding on July 10, 2015. Nicky commemorated her daughter’s birth with a 2016 Instagram post on their first anniversary, writing that they had received “the best anniversary gift ever, our beautiful daughter Lily-Grace.”

While Nicky lives a public life, her children are largely kept out of the public eye. However, she offers the occasional glimpse into their lives with photos on social media. Lily-Grace made a rare one public appearance during a LOL Surprise of February 2020! event in New York alongside her mother and younger sister Teddy, which she paired in a maroon dress and a long-sleeved top.

After welcoming her girls, Nicky opened up about her feelings of ‘mom guilt’ in a February 2020 interview with PEOPLE, in which he shared that “it’s important to still do the things you love” as a mother.

“Every time I go on a business trip, I feel guilty about leaving the kids behind,” Nicky said. “But at the same time, I think it’s also a good example for your children to work on what you’re passionate about. I want to lead by example… Navigate that balance and find that balance.”

The fashion expert also revealed that one of her tried-and-true parenting tactics is showing “patience and being the best version of yourself.”

Nicky admitted: “I’ve learned that with children it’s not what you say, it’s what you do,” adding: “Our children reflect what we do, so I think it’s really important to do the right thing.” to set an example.”

Nicky’s youngest daughter, Teddy, arrived over a year after Lily-Grace on December 20, 2017.

Years later, Nicky told PEOPLE in February 2020 that Teddy was about to start school, revealing that both of her daughters had “just started French class together.”

“They can say, ‘Hello,’ ‘How are you?’ and a few words. I think it is important to introduce language at a young age,” says Nicky. “Teddy has just been accepted into school for next year, so she is going with her big sister, which is exciting – one drop out at one school.”

As her daughters grew older, Nicky noticed that they started to follow her love for fashion. She once told PEOPLE, “They are girly girls in the sense that they like fashion and dressing up.”

However, Teddy hasn’t always been fond of colorful fashion choices, Nicky said, explaining: ‘My daughters love the colors pink and purple now. My youngest daughter always told me her favorite color was gray. Fortunately, that has changed!”

After her daughters were close in age, Nicky welcomed her sons five years after Teddy. PEOPLE confirmed the fashion designer was expecting her third child in January 2022, ahead of his birth in July.

Paris threw her older sister a baby shower with blue bear theme in May to commemorate the arrival of her first son. And while Nicky’s mother, Kathy Hilton missed Chasen’s baby showershe told PEOPLE she would be next to her daughter in the delivery room.

“I hated not being able to be there,” Kathy said. “Nicky is easy. I fly (to New York) for all deliveries. I’ll be there holding her hand. It will be in the next five or six weeks.”

Before Chasen’s birth, Kathy added that it was important for the family to pass on the love to their daughters as they became big sisters — and especially “making sure they gave Teddy extra, extra attention.” Despite the change, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star confirmed that Lily-Grace and Teddy were “so happy” and “really, really excited” about having a brother.

Nicky announced Chasen’s arrival wholeheartedly Instagram post on July 5. “We are officially a group of 5!” she captioned a photo of herself with a baby bump embraced by her husband. “Welcome to the world sweet boy. Mom, dad and big sisters couldn’t be more in love. .”

The mother of three kept her son’s name private until March 2024. At the time, she revealed that he was named Chasen because “we always liked the name, and it was unusual.”

Six months after Chasen’s birth, Paris welcomed her son Phoenix on January 16, 2023. While Nicky mainly keeps her son out of the spotlight, Nicky celebrated National Son’s Day with a sweet photo of himself, Chasen, Paris and Phoenix in a September 2023 Instagram post.

“Happy National Sons Day to our sons! I love doing this boy mom life with my bestie. ,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
