VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – New body-worn camera footage shows the arrest of two men in Volusia County accused of stealing diesel fuel.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a black minivan flagged as a suspicious vehicle in a Seminole County diesel fuel siphon ring around 9 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit. Most of the next half hour was spent following the vehicle, noting that another minivan, gold in color, was possibly following him, the affidavit said.
At 9:30 p.m., a deputy in an unmarked cruiser had approached the gold minivan, which had been parked above the fuel intake gate of a RaceTrac gas station along Deltona Boulevard near DeBary for about 15 minutes before driving to a nearby Waffle House. according to the sheriff’s office.
Another deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the van because it was unregistered, but after seeing no one was in the vehicle, Waffle House employees began pointing officers to a man who had walked away and then running away . turned on their emergency lights, the affidavit said.
After a foot chase, Henry Gonzalez Ortega, 33, of Hialeah, was apprehended behind the aforementioned RaceTrac. Meanwhile, officers searching the area on the other side of Interstate 4 located the black minivan and secured its driver, 35-year-old Jose Garcia Aguila of Orlando.

Officers said two red 5-gallon gas canisters and a clear hose were located inside the black minivan, while the gold minivan’s rear windows were observed to be tinted to the point that nothing could be seen through it from the outside. Inside that minivan, however, officers reportedly discovered an additional fuel tank behind the front passenger seat and discovered that the vehicle’s undercarriage was closer to the ground than normal.
Both men were taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail and will be charged in connection with the theft and unlawful transportation of fuel, the sheriff’s office said. social media.
