TL; DR

  • Gemini Live is getting ready to work with uploaded files.
  • Gemini introduces this feature by suggesting to go Live when you make an upload.
  • None of this is functional anymore.

Google’s Gemini AI isn’t just there to answer your questions or help you take photos, but it can also lend a hand to get some work done. Gemini Advanced users can upload files, from plain text documents to complex spreadsheets, and let the AI modify them or simply summarize the information within them. Today we look at what could be the next step in the evolution of this feature, as Google gets ready to let you talk to Twins Live about these files.

A MOT disassembly helps predict features that may appear on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, such predicted features may not make it to a public release.

If you have Gemini Advanced, you can now upload your files through Gemini’s standard interface and interact with them there. But if we take a look at version 15.45.33.ve.arm64 beta of the Google app, we see the presence of some new text strings indicating Gemini Live’s interest in your files:

Code

Copy text

Open Live Talk about attachment Open Live with attachment

From the looks of it, Gemini will recognize when you add a file (uploaded directly or via Drive) and suggest that you might want to try moving what you’re about to try to Gemini Live, where you can take full advantage of the contextual, conversational nature of the platform .

We haven’t been able to actually activate this response yet, nor have we been able to get Live to work with our files, so we can’t really give you a taste of what to expect from this experience. But the more we look, the more evidence we find that Google is building this kind of support, like this string from an apparent error handler:

Code

Copy text

Starting Conversation Mode with empty attachments, but expected attachments to be present.

With the pieces falling into place like this, hopefully it won’t be long before we can actually put this to the test and see what Live can add to Gemini’s skill at working with files.
