Much needed rain returns mid-week, great weather for the weekend

Tonight: The cold front that brought us rain this weekend is over South Alabama and will linger along the coast tonight. As the drier air moves over Central Alabama, it will be partly cloudy to mostly clear. It will be cooler, with lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

Tuesday will be beautiful with lots of sunshine and low humidity, while high pressure will be north of Alabama. It will still be warm for this time of year, with highs in the mid 70s.

The weather pattern will change Wednesday as a trough of low pressure moves across the eastern U.S., sending a cold front across Alabama. It will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some showers are expected in the afternoon and evening. It will be cooler with high temperatures in the mid 60s.

The cold front will move through Alabama Wednesday night into Thursday morning bringing heavy rain and showers. The rain will stop on Thursday afternoon and we will slowly clear the clouds. It will be a more seasonal day with high temperatures in the mid 60s. Rain totals will be around .50″ to 1″+.

High pressure will develop across the southeastern US on Friday. It will be sunny, less humid and comfortable with high temperatures in the mid 60s. Friday night will be clear and chilly with lows in the upper 30s to 40s.

Weekend outlook: Expect beautiful weather as high pressure sits over the Deep South. Saturday and Sunday we will have plenty of sun and high temperatures around 70 degrees. It can be chilly in the morning, with lows around 40 degrees.

Following the tropics: A tropical wave is located over the central Caribbean. It is disorganized, but conditions favor a slow development into a tropical depression this week or weekend as it moves into the western Caribbean. NHC gives this system an average chance of developing. It’s too early to tell whether it will curve north into the southeastern Gulf.
