New Delhi, Nov 13 (PTI) A Delhi court is likely to deliver its verdict on Thursday on whether to take cognizance of a complaint filed against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi Waqf Board case.

Special Judge Jitendra Singh reserved the order on Wednesday after hearing arguments from the ED, which claimed that there was enough evidence to prosecute the accused in the case.

The ED had filed a first 110-page supplementary chargesheet (ED’s equivalent of a chargesheet) on October 29, alleging that Khan had laundered money allegedly generated through corruption in the Delhi Waqf Board.

The charge sheet named one Mariam Siddiqui, who has not been arrested as an accused by the ED in the case.

The ED said there was enough evidence to prosecute Khan and others in the case registered under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

His bail plea is expected to take place on November 7.

Khan was arrested under the provisions of the PMLA on September 2 by the ED, which conducted a search at his house in Delhi’s Okhla area.

The AAP MLA was accused of being “evasive” when she was questioned by the probe agency.

The money laundering probe against him stems from two FIRs: the Central Bureau of Investigation case related to the alleged irregularities in the Waqf administration and an alleged disproportionate assets case registered by the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Delhi Police. PTI UK AS AS
