Olympic gold medalist Jen Dodds says she still has “a taste for winning” as she aims to become European champion for a second time.
Dodds, 33, won European gold at Eve Muirhead’s rink in 2021 before triumphing at the Winter Olympics in Beijing the following year.
She is now part of Rebecca Morrison’s rink, who will be hoping to be among the medalists when the championships start in Finland on Saturday.
“I think once you get those medals you get the taste of winning and you want to recreate that feeling,” Dodds told BBC Sport Scotland.
“For me, the Olympic Games were obviously the highlight. People still ask me, ‘How does it feel?’ And I’m still like, ‘It still feels bizarre.’
“I always said it would take a few years for it to sink in, but it’s always exciting to play and have that competitiveness with your country’s name on the back.”
Dodds joined Morrison’s team last year and the quartet narrowly missed out on a medal shot at the 2023 European Championships, finishing fifth in Aberdeen.
But she believes the group has “come a long way” since then and is heading to Finland in good shape, having “worked on a lot of areas”.
Dodds now wants to help Morrison and the rest of the group win a major title.
“When I won my first Euro, I remember the feeling: it was such a breakthrough for us,” she said.
“The girls haven’t won a euro, so I would like to be part of them and have that feeling at the same time.”
