Jelly roll stays on track for his fitness goals.
In a candid interview with People for its cover story published on Wednesday (November 20), the country star revealed that he has lost a total of 110 pounds so far this year – of which he estimates 60 to 70 pounds have disappeared during his ongoing Beautifully Broken Tour. “The struggle was with food addiction, which changed the way I viewed food for the past 39 years,” he explained to the outlet.
“I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the hardest part,” he continued. “But once you get that discipline and dedication, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was coming.”
Jelly has long been open about his journey with health and exercise. The new interview comes just under a month after he revealed he had surpassed his 100 pound weight loss goal by incorporating hiking, basketball and boxing into his travel regimen along the way.
Before that, the “Need a Favor” artist completed his first 5K. In preparation for the race in April, he announced at the time that he would do so Lost 70 pounds.
And while you’re talking Peoplethe star shared that his journey is far from over. “I hope I continue to lose this weight,” he said. “No one in my house has ever had (a healthy relationship with food), so that was the hardest part, really fighting that demon first and getting into that discipline and that commitment.”
Jelly has also made strides in his career this year, with the musician recently achieving his first-ever No. 1 album in October with Beautifully broken. Following the end of his Beautifully Broken Tour, he’ll be hitting the road with Post Malone for a North American stadium tour that kicks off in April.
Additionally, Jelly recently earned two new Grammy nominations: Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “I Am Not Okay.”
