The student actor Sebastian Stan revealed that he was unable to find a single actor willing to do an interview show Variety because they were too “scared” to discuss his portrayal of the newly elected president Donald Trump.
Stan told the story of his failed attempt to do so Variety’s Actors on Actors, an online show in which actors interview each other during a Q&A after the screening The student on Tuesday evenings, and co-editor-in-chief of Variety Ramin Setoodeh confirmed the story in a statement.

The actor said:
The amount of love that I’ve received from some of the greatest, from both of us, I think, in terms of actors, directors, producers, writers who have seen the movie and are excited about it, they’re excited about it, but then. .. For example, I had an offer to do Variety Actor on Actor next Friday, and I couldn’t find another actor to do it with me, because they were too scared to start talking about this movie, so I couldn’t doing. And it doesn’t matter, that’s okay, that’s not to point the finger at anyone. That doesn’t refer to anyone specific. We couldn’t get past the publicists or the people who represented them because they were too scared to talk about this movie.
Stan portrays Trump during the 70s and 80s The studentwhich follows the rise of the future president and his relationship with a lawyer Roy Cohn (played by Jeremy Strong).
The actor argued that it is a mistake if people continue to “push Trump aside” by not talking about him as a human being.
“I understand that emotions are very high, but I think this is the only way you can understand this film. All it says is that you can’t keep pushing this person aside, especially after he’s been voted out by the people. Shouldn’t we take a closer look at this and try to understand what it is about this person that is even behind this,” he said. “I don’t know if the love will translate into action, but from what we hear it’s definitely there.”

Setoodeh released a statement on Wednesday confirming Stan’s story as “accurate.”
“We invited him to participate Actors on Actorsthe biggest franchise of awards season, but other actors didn’t want to work with him because they didn’t want to talk about Donald Trump,” he shared Indiewire.
Trump’s lawyers sent one cease and desist to producers of The student in an attempt to block its release shortly before the election, but its creators have defended it as an accurate representation. Trump himself called it “defamatory.” The film has since grossed approximately $4 million in the United States and $12 million worldwide edition in theaters on October 11.
