WhatsApp users will receive a major free upgrade that will make voice note chats MUCH easier when things are really noisy

WHATSAPP has made it much easier to have a conversation via voice notes even when you are in a noisy environment.

Voice Notes, the little voice messages you can ping to friends and family in lieu of a text or phone call, are a brilliant way to liven up a conversation.

But it can be frustrating to receive them if you are in a loud environment.

Or perhaps even more annoying if you are sitting in a very quiet room, where you don’t feel like playing half of your conversation out loud.

The Meta-property messengerwhich is used by approximately 2 billion people worldwide, has tried to ease this pain.

It has introduced a transcription feature that describes exactly what the audio message says.

Once you long-press on a voice note, a transcript will be hidden underneath it for you to read instead of listening to it.

While security buffs may raise their eyebrows at this, it’s true WhatsApp Fashion, the voice notes are end-to-end encrypted.

This means that even though WhatsApp is transcribing the voice note, the company cannot actually hear or read the content of the message.

Besides, no one else can, not even that hackers or Police.

“Voice message transcriptions are generated on your device and your personal voice messages remain protected by end-to-end encryption,” the company writes on a new help page for the tool.

Statements will be rolled out to users worldwide in the coming weeks, on both Android And iOSaccording to WhatsApp.

You can opt-in to this feature, so if you find a written detail of each voice note annoying, you can disable it.

To use it, first make sure you’re using the most up-to-date version of WhatsApp available.

Then open the messenger and go to Institutions > Chats > Transcriptions of voice messages to enable or disable transcriptions.

Here you can also select your transcription language.
