Gunman threatens to kill fast food workers during robbery

An 18-year-old Winnipeg man is facing several charges after a robbery at a fast food restaurant.

According to police, around 3 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to the McDonald’s in the 1100 block of Main Street for a robbery in progress.

According to police, a man armed with a knife went to the back kitchen, where he demanded food and threatened to kill the employees.

The workers were able to take shelter in an office and called 911. The man then sprayed a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and restaurant and fled.

According to police, officers saw the man leaving the restaurant and arrested him. No injuries have been reported.

The 18-year-old is facing a number of charges, including theft, possession of a weapon, making threats of death or bodily harm, mischief over $5,000 and possession of cocaine.

He is in police custody.
