Ireland 52-17 Fiji: Sam Prendergast shines as hosts romp to a devastating Autumn Nations Series win

Ireland produced their most convincing performance of the Autumn Nations Series as they defeated Fiji 52-17 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

It took just seven minutes for the hosts to take the lead through Caelan Doris before tries from Josh van der Flier, Craig Casey and Mack Hansen put them ahead 28-3 at the break.

Bundee Aki quickly added a fifth after the break in what was a great performance from the inside center who were left out last weekend.

Fiji offered more attack after the break and managed to get their first try on the board through Kititione Salawa.

After a debut try for Gus McCarthy, Fiji added a second as Setareki Turagacoke stormed over the line after some fantastic work from the talented Caleb Muntz.

However, Ireland continued to dominate and Hansen doubled his tally on the day before Ronan Kelleher added an eighth try late on.

Andy Farrell’s side will hope to continue this form in their final match of the autumn campaign against Australia next weekend, after their first home defeat in more than three years against New Zealand was followed by a less convincing win over Argentina last weekend.

The defeat brings Fiji’s autumn campaign, which peaked with a first-ever away win over Wales, to a disappointing end.
