GEORGE TOWN: Civil Defense had to rescue an 86-year-old woman from a house full of garbage and junk.
Her family members had to call the Civil Defense for help at around 4.40pm on Sunday (October 13) as the house in Jalan Mano was cluttered with piles of rubbish and junk and the woman had difficulty walking.
A four-person team was dispatched to the scene, where staff were greeted with bundles of rubbish piled around the estate and even inside the two-story house.
There were also piles of garbage on the stairs.
Photos show staff wearing protective masks removing the woman, who is believed to be suffering from various ailments including high blood pressure, diabetes, physical disabilities and hearing impairment.
According to Civil Defense Force Northeast District Officer Muhammad Aizat Abdul Ghani, the woman was unable to walk and had difficulty leaving the two-story house due to the large amount of garbage and recyclable materials she had accumulated over the years.
The woman was later carried out of the house on a stretcher.
It is believed the woman needed help moving to a nearby nursing home.
