PCG rescues 12 Zambales after boat engine failure in WPS

SUBIC, Zambales – Twelve fishermen returned safely to Barangay Calapandayan in this town on Monday after being rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in the Western Philippine Sea (WPS).

PCG’s BRP Cabra was patrolling the WPS when it received a distress call on October 12 regarding the endangered FBCA Nhiwel Jay 2.

After responding, PCG discovered that the crankshaft pulley was damaged in the boat’s main engine.

PCG towed the vessel back to shore, ensuring the safe return of the crew to their families in Subic. INQ
