Mother pleads not guilty to child’s murder in Peoria

PEORIA (25News Now) – A Peoria mother has pleaded not guilty to the death of her 1-month-old baby.

On Thursday, 26-year-old Andrea Luncsford pleaded guilty to one charge of murder and the other of endangering the life and health of a child.

Peoria police found the body of one-month-old Grayson Luncsford on Monday, September 16.

Autopsy results showed he had been dead for 12 to 24 hours.

Coroner Jamie Harwood ruled Tuesday that the final cause of death was cocaine poisoning, but the infant also suffered from heat stress, dehydration, malnutrition and neglect.

Luncsford is in the Peoria County Jail.

He is scheduled to return to court in November.
