Man gets 11 years for driving under the influence that killed two people on Thanksgiving Day in Orange – Orange County Register

A 27-year-old man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 11 years in prison for a Thanksgiving Day drunken collision that killed two pedestrians in Orange.

On Friday, October 18, Humberto Lopez Flores pleaded guilty to two counts of causing a road accident while intoxicated and one count of hit-and-run causing permanent and serious injuries. He also admitted that he had escaped.

Flores killed Jose Huerta, 51, of Orange, and Manuel Ortiz, 59, of Santa Ana, Orange police said.

Police responded to a report of a collision on November 23 around 8:15 p.m. at 700 North Shattuck Place.

Flores was driving south on Shattuck in a Ford F-250 when he swerved into a parked Chevrolet Silverado and two men, police said.
