Vermonters have one more month to apply for disaster assistance

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Time is running out for Vermonters needing flood recovery assistance.

The deadline to apply for FEMA disaster assistance is November 25, which is just over a month away. There are separate applications for the two declared natural disasters – July 9-11 and July 29-31. People affected by both floods must submit separate applications.

FEMA has so far approved more than $10.2 million in federal aid for these storms, which includes $8.2 million for 1,559 people and households.

Counties approved for the July 9-11 storm include Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Lamoille, Orleans and Washington counties.

Designated areas for July 29-31 include Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties.

There are three disaster recovery centers still open in Vermont to help people fill out forms and ask questions. Individuals can also call the FEMA hotline at 1-800-621-3362.

The deadline to apply for SBA aid for individuals and businesses is also November 25. SBA Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955.
