BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – Officials announced Wednesday that the 2019 Mississippi Bonnet Carré Spillway Fishing Disaster Recovery Program, which opens applications for financial assistance to commercial fisheries, seafood dealers and boat charter participants, will reopen.
New applicants may visit the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources website at //dmr.ms.gov/2019bcrelief/ after 8 a.m. on October 28.
Individuals who received funds in the previous opening of the direct financial assistance program are not eligible to receive funds from the current program.
Applicants must be:
- Mississippi resident
- 18 years or older
- held a valid commercial fishing license or dealer license for the 2019 calendar year residing in the State of Mississippi with documented MDMR landings, verified by MDMR against trip tickets during the consecutive five historical years 2014-2018.
To qualify as a dealer, applicants must:
- had an active dealer license in 2019
- purchased seafood from an active Mississippi commercial fisherman between 2014 and 2018
- records of purchases must be in the MDMR ticket database
For Mississippi charter boat captains:
- must be over 18 years of age
- held a valid Mississippi resident boat charter license for the 2019 calendar year and at least one other year from 2014 through 2018.
If you are filing as a business or corporation, you must be domiciled in Mississippi and registered with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office.
Applications will be accepted for 30 days and will close on Tuesday, November 26 at 11:59 p.m. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered and there will be no appeals if the deadline is missed. The division of funds has been designed in such a way that only applications submitted on time will be considered.

- valid email address
- all applicable fishing license numbers for 2019
- date ir
- your employer’s social security number or tax number
A W-9 form will also be required to make the payment and will be retained by MDMR.
