7 things you need to do while waiting for the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is rushing at us like a freight train. Marketing hype and general excitement for the upcoming premium version is at its highest level since Call of Duty: Next and its subsequent beta. Black Ops 6, developed by Treyarch Studios and published by Activision, is the first Call of Duty to be released after the end of PlayStation’s marketing deal with the publisher and the acquisition of Xbox, which ended just weeks before the release of Modern Warfare 3 (2023).

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is also the first Day One premiere of the series as part of the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming subscription services. It’s a momentous occasion, and the passage of time for the premiere seemed unbearable. The game’s release is staggered across time zones, with several players taking a flight to New Zealand, changing the location of their Xbox consoles to gain early access. I won’t tell you how to do this because changing your console region for early access is a violation of the Xbox Terms of Service and I don’t want to be responsible for suspending someone’s Black Operation 6 Eve account.

I’ll give you a handy list of 7 things you can do to pass the time before you can take the plunge.

1. Check launch times in your region.

Waiting for Black Ops 6 to launch is difficult, and that’s why the best way to get through the hours until you can play (at least without risking your Xbox account) is to obsessively check the launch time image to determine when the game will launch. be available to you. Access has already come online in parts of the Eastern Hemisphere, with New Zealand and Australia among the first to play the game. For more information on when the game will be available in your region, check out our Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 release times guide.

2. Catch up on the Deputy’s antics.

For Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Xbox pulled its biggest gun and brought back Peter Stormare to reprise his role as the Deputy, a dedicated agent who replaces regular people so they can spend more time playing Call of Duty. The character has been a fan favorite in previous Black Ops marketing campaigns, but has been suspiciously absent from Cold War trailers and campaigns. Xbox and Activision clearly felt they had some time to make up, and The Applyr’s marketing campaign for Black Ops 6 really put its blockbuster marketing budget into motion.

The deputy was a fireman, the Pope, the Joker, and even your new daddy. He also took over the offices at Treyarch Studios, hosted live streams on Twitch and Instagram, and took over the reins of Call of Duty’s social media for a day. The Applyr has announced October 25, the official release date of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, as National Call of Duty Kick Ass Day. If you log into your Call of Duty social account with your Activision ID, you can earn Double XP to help you race to Prestige Champion.

If you happened to travel to New Zealand for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 premiere, don’t worry. There’s also a Deputy for you.

3. Check your system specifications and preload.

No one wants to delay their team because Black Ops 6 isn’t pre-loaded and ready to go at launch. Before you even hop into a Discord chat or Xbox party with your friends, make sure your PC specs are ready for battle. If that’s not the case, you can still buy the Corsair x Call of Duty Collection PC, but I doubt it’ll be here before launch. In this case, you can consider Black Ops 6 cloud streaming with NVIDIA GeForce NOW or Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Also, don’t forget to update your drivers to the latest versions. You’ll find the PC specs for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in this handy guide.

If you’re playing on Xbox, you’ll probably just need to preload the game. However, you will need 102 GB of storage space.

4. Spam Replacements gifs in the group chat.

Activision and GIPHY have partnered to give your favorite memes a day off for the launch of Black Ops 6 with The Replacement. Peter Stormare dons Willy Wonka's classic brown top hat and bow in a popular, condescending Wonka meme.

Cool story, team. (Image: Activision, GIPHY)

Anyone who forgets to preload will receive a Patronizing Wonka meme with a Replacement today. All. Don’t let it be you.

However, if you have it preloaded safely, you can continue spamming people in your team’s group chat to torment those who haven’t prepared. Once your entire team is united and ready to go, you can move on to the rest of the memes. Activision and Xbox have teamed up with GIPHY to recreate a dozen of the internet’s favorite and most popular memes, starring Peter Stormare as the Replacement, and honestly, I won’t be using any of the others.

5. Brush up on Call of Duty knowledge.

Call of Duty: Black Ops has a somewhat unwieldy plot that is non-linear at best. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s campaign events are interspersed with story missions, flashbacks, and side stories that originally appeared in early titles, spanning back to the 1970s and stretching all the way to… well, 2025. OK, maybe not that “far” ahead.

Some popular characters in both Zombies and Campaign are canonically dead, while others are injured, imprisoned, or otherwise missing. It’s worth checking out the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 FAQ to remind yourself how the story got to where it is now after loading the campaign.

6. Plan a zombie attack.

Classic round-based zombies will be available when Black Ops 6 launches, and there are a few things you should probably know to plan your attack. GobbleGums, a handy power-up that can be purchased with Call of Duty Points or unlocked through game progression, returns to the popular third mode, where hordes of the undead ambush a squad of four for cooperative play. Two maps, Terminus Island and Liberty Falls, will be available for Zombies mode at launch, and there are currently 108 upgrades available that you should be familiar with before diving into the water. Changes to perks and upgrades give players the chance to craft unique gear for Zombies, but listen – someone else has to be the healer this time, guys.

7. Order snacks.

Mountain Dew and Doritos? Brother, oh! Call of Duty players will order Little Caesars and wash them down with a Monster energy drink like the pros. And also because we want sweet, sweet rewards.

Call of Duty is once again partnering with Little Caesars for an exclusive Operator skin – this time with Black Ops 6’s Russell Adler packing an orange pizza cutter and a Hot-N-Ready hat – as well as a few other rewards like the Hot-N -Ready Ready-made Little Caesars x COD gun tag, emblem and business card. If all else fails…
