Some homeowners in Garden Grove are living on edge after their home was robbed by a group of thieves on Halloween.

According to Garden Grove police, it happened at a home in the 13400 block of Gardenia Avenue around 11 p.m. They say two suspects, both wearing hooded sweatshirts, were involved in the incident.

“Officers arrived and discovered that the suspects had forced entry, shut off power to the residence and stolen a large safe containing valuables,” according to a GGPD statement.

Security footage shows one of the burglars pushing a huge safe across the driveway of the family’s home before lifting it into the trunk of a getaway vehicle.

Police say the car is a dark gray Chrysler Pacifica minivan with no license plates.

Homeowners say the £700 safe contained hundreds of thousands of dollars, as well as guns, jewelry and other valuables.

“Two guys were struggling with it for a long time, sliding it across the sidewalk and barely lifting it to the back of the van,” said Peter Lee, one of the homeowners. “Still no police, I just feel so helpless.”

They also say they were followed the entire time they were trick or treating, and when they were about to go home, they discovered their tires had been slashed.

“I was so shocked,” said Vicki Nguyen, the other homeowner. “I’m still shocked, I’m so scared. I don’t even want to be here.”
