Rescuers inside Spain braved chest-high water in buildings in search of missing people in the catastrophic aftermath of flooding, as shown by images posted on Saturday, November 2.
At least 214 people have died in the extreme weather conditionskilling more than 200 in the worst-hit region Valencia only.
Imagery posted by the Civil Guard Police showed mountain rescue specialists wading through water in a garage in Paiporta.
An extra 5,000 soldiers are deployed to the flooded Valencia region to support the “largest operation of the armed forces in Spain in peacetime”, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said.
