A 40-year-old woman is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in South Lanarkshire.
Officers were called to a report of a crash involving an orange Mitsubishi L200 and the woman, who was a pedestrian, on Farmelan Road, Rutherglen at around 8pm on Saturday.
Emergency services attended and she was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where medical staff described her condition as critical.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, was arrested in connection with road traffic offenses and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
The full circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “I would ask anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam footage, and has not yet spoken to officers or provided this information, to please contact us as soon as possible.”
