ROCK HILL, S.C. – Two men have been charged with murder after a man shot in the head during an armed robbery of an alleged drug deal died Friday, Rock Hill police said.
The 21-year-old man died last Sunday after suffering a gunshot wound.
Christopher Boyd, 21, and Demetris Franklin, 19, were both served with murder warrants. Both were previously charged with aggravated assault and battery and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Franklin was also initially charged with possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Boyd was charged with the same offense on Friday.
Just after midnight on Sunday, officers responded to Saludastraat 1195 near Mount Holly Road in Rock Hill regarding a shooting.
There, officers found a man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, according to a news release. Boyd and Franklin were also at the scene in a black pickup and claimed the man tried to rob them in the parking lot.
However, investigators determined that Boyd and Franklin were in the parking lot to conduct a drug deal with the victim.
When the victim pulled out a gun to rob them, police said Franklin used his firearm to shoot him.
