ANCA welcomes unprecedented Armenian-American electoral impact

ANCA’s Aram Hamparian mentioned the crucial role that Armenian-American votes played in the 2024 elections.

WASHINGTON – The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) welcomed the unprecedented impact of Armenian American voters this election cycle – the culmination of a yearlong ANCA campaign to strategically leverage the electoral power of our community and coalition partners in key presidential swing states and hotly contested congressional elections.

“The ANCA played this election smartly,” ANCA director Aram Hamparian explained in a video released after the nationwide closure of polling stations on November 5. “We have not lowered our standards or compromised our values, but we have raised our voices and raised our voices. We have not accepted any promises, but we have demanded accountability.”

The ANCA did not endorse either presidential candidate, Hamparian explained, but instead focused on creating “political costs for those who cross our community – who arm and encourage the genocide of the Armenians,” and uplifting the Armenian- American concerns – ‘Artsakh first among them – in the American political arena – as American electoral priorities.”

Hamparian thanked Armenian Americans and coalition partners for helping the community “come out of this election cycle much stronger than we entered it – respected as a powerful swing state constituency, with voice and voice – impact and influence.”

The ANCA endorsed 84 members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives from twenty states, 90% of whom were elected in the 2024 U.S. general election.

The ANCA endorsed 84 candidates for the US Senate and House of Representatives, with more than 90% elected in 20 US states. Each ANCA endorsement was supported by detailed report cards documenting the record of each sitting senator and representative against more than 40 policy criteria – with a strong focus on detaining Azerbaijan for its genocidal ethnic cleansing of Artsakh and supporting the security and sovereignty of Armenia. This year’s report cards cover an unprecedented range of legislative, community and social media activities – including resolutions, letters, events and public statements in support of ANCA’s advocacy priorities.

The membership of the Armenian Caucus was also taken into account; trips to Armenia and Artsakh; participation in Armenian-American events commemorating the Armenian Genocide; demanding responsibility for the genocide in Artsakh and marking Armenia’s independence; engagement with local Armenian American voters; and significantly, support for a wide range of letters from Congress on ANCA-backed advocacy priorities – including the FY24 and FY25 foreign assistance bills and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
