Man stabs mother dozens of times because she won't finance move to Canada

New Delhi: A 31-year-old man stabbed his mother (50) more than ten times because she refused to finance his ambition to move to Canada. The police have arrested the suspect. The woman, Geeta, succumbed to her injuries.
Police said the family of the suspect, Krishan Kant, was opposed to his wish to move abroad until he got married. His addiction and unemployment had already led to strained family relationships. On November 6, Kant called his father, Surjeet Singh, asking him to come home.
“Upon arrival, Singh found his son apologetic yet calm and instructed him to go upstairs,” police said. There he discovered Geeta’s lifeless body, battered beyond recognition. Neighbors rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh said they received a PCR call from a hospital at 4.58 pm about the admission of a woman who was declared brought dead. The incident took place in south-east Delhi’s Molarband.
Investigation revealed that only Kant and his mother were present at home at the time of the incident. He attacked her with a knife he bought three days ago. The police are investigating whether the murder was planned in advance. “He showed no remorse for killing his mother,” a senior officer said.
The suspect, a graduate who was also preparing for the International English Language Testing System, struggled with drug addiction. On the day of the murder, at 2 p.m., he seemed to be behaving normally after lunch. However, an hour later, a heated argument broke out between him and his mother, which escalated into a violent confrontation that resulted in her death.
Singh, a real estate dealer, has his office in Jaitpur. His other son, Sahil (27), works at a bank.
