Krampusmarkt returns to Strange Fellows Brewing this year.
Krampus market returns to Strange Fellows Brewing again this year.
While the Vancouver Christmas Market celebrates one aspect of a traditional German Christmas, the Krampusmarkt celebrates another; the Krampus is the demon-like character from folklore who traveled with Sinterklaas. Together, the pair rewarded good children (Sinterklaas’ duty) or punished bad children (Krampus’ duty).
The Krampus will be in Vancouver for the three-day market, ready for photos as if Santa were in a mall. In this case, the photos will be a fundraiser for the Vancouver Food Bank.
“Krampus invites you to come to the Krampusmarkt with him and a cheerful group of artists and makers,” says a press release.
Aside from the Germanic Christmas horror, the market will feature more than 30 stalls from local artisans with plenty of gift ideas, such as art, ceramics, chocolates, jewelry and more. And browsing can be accompanied by a brew.
“With a glass of cheerfulness in hand, you can explore a range of beautiful objects of desire,” the release reads.
KrampusMarkt runs from Friday, November 29 to Sunday, December 1. Tickets for Fridaywhich only runs from 6pm to 8pm costs $25 but includes a drink (beer, cider or wine) and appetizers. On Saturdays and Sundays it costs $5 general admission at the door.
