Andrew Witty became CEO of UnitedHealth Group in 2021, but this isn’t his first stint as medical director; he also served as CEO of leading pharmaceutical manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline from 2008 to 2017. Revenue for UnitedHealth Group has been steadily increasing, bringing in $372 billion for fiscal 2023, making it the largest healthcare company in the world by revenue. The company was in the spotlight this year after a major cyberattack, with Witty testifying before Congress that data on “perhaps” a third of Americans had been stolen. In 2012, Witty was knighted in Great Britain and in 2017 he was made an honorary citizen of Singapore for his work to improve that country’s growth and development.
