Man wanted by Swift Current RCMP arrested in Alberta – SwiftCurrentOnline.com

A man wanted by Swift Current Municipal RCMP on multiple assault, theft and firearms charges has been arrested.

Nicholas Belanger was brought into Alberta by RCMP on Nov. 19, 2024, on his outstanding warrant in the westernmost Prairie province.

Since being returned to Swift Current, the 35-year-old has already appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court once on Wednesday.

Swift Current Municipal RCMP note they are still looking for Matthew Neufeld. The 28-year-old is described as 6 feet tall and 145 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Neufeld faces the following charges.

  • one charge, theft with a firearm, Article 344(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
  • one count, assault with a weapon, Penal Code section 267(a);
  • one charge, careless use of a firearm, section 86(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • one count, pointing a firearm, section 87(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count: possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • in one case a firearm was discharged in a dangerous manner, article 244(1), Criminal Code; And
  • six counts, failure to comply with probation order, Criminal Code Section 733.1(1)

If anyone sees Neaufeld, they should not approach him. Any sightings of Neufeld can be reported to police by calling 310-RCMP.
