Being fired by his school still didn’t stop Biff Poggi from being there for his players.
Poggi was fired by Charlotte on Monday in the midst of a 3-7 season. He was in his second year at Charlotte and had gone 6-16, but the 49ers were no longer giving him time to turn things around.
Despite being ruled out, Poggi turned up for his team’s training on Tuesday morning. The team’s players gathered around the 64-year-old.

Although the government has abolished Poggi, he still loves his team and the coaches. He expressed that sentiment in a post on X Wednesday. In the same post, Poggi said he would spend time this weekend helping Michigan coach Sherrone Moore.
I love my players at CLT love my coaches and staff at CLT love the students at CLT I spend Friday and Saturday with my old friend @Coach_SMoore #goblue

Poggi served as associate head coach at Michigan from 2021 to 2022, prior to his nearly two-year stint at Charlotte.
Even though he was let go by Charlotte, it’s pretty cool that Poggi still showed up at training to say goodbye to his players.
