Latest war in Ukraine: Putin appears to threaten British and US military facilities – after firing ‘new type’ missile at Ukraine | World news

We can now bring you more commentary from Vladimir Putin, who previously said that Russia today launched a medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile attack on a Ukrainian military facility (see post at 5:24 p.m.).

The Russian leader has also said he could attack military facilities in countries that have allowed Kiev to use their missiles to attack Russia, posing a clear threat to the US and Britain.

British and American leaders agreed this week to allow Ukraine to use their long-range weapons on Russian territory, angering the Kremlin.

“We believe that we have the right to use our weapons against military facilities of the countries that allow them to use their weapons against our facilities,” he said.

“And if aggressive actions escalate, we will respond decisively in mirror image.”

Attacking British or American military facilities would represent a major escalation of the war.

If such an attack were to occur, it could be the first time Russia has deliberately launched a military attack on NATO territory since the start of the war.

Earlier today, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said a US anti-missile base in Redzikowo, Poland, is “a priority target for possible neutralization.”

“Given the level of threats posed by such Western military facilities, the missile defense base in Poland has long been among the priority targets for possible neutralization,” Zakharova said, according to Russia’s new agency TASS.

The military facility Zakharova referred to opened this month but has been in the works since the 2000s, when Barack Obama commissioned it.
