The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy series kicks off at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Friday, November 22.
However, untimely rainfall in Perth has disrupted preparations, leaving the curator’s plans in tatters.
Curator Isaac McDonald acknowledged the challenge posed by the rain, but assured fans that the field is still on course for a competitive match.
“Yes, it is definitely not a traditional preparation for the Perth Test,” McDonald said on Wednesday.
‘Yesterday we lost almost the entire day of preparation because it was under cover. So we saw the forecast early and started preparing a little earlier than we normally would. So we sit nice and quiet. It would be nice if the sun came out and did its work, but as of this morning we are in a good place, we feel really comfortable as a curatorial team.”
Rain is expected to affect the first morning of play on Friday, with a forecast chance of showers of 25%.
The morning conditions are likely to favor fast bowlers due to the moisture on the pitch. The weather is expected to clear for the remainder of the match, with only occasional cloud cover forecast.
