When you’re the World Series champion, you tend to attract a lot more attention.
When rapper Kendrick Lamar released a surprise album on Friday titled “GNX,” one of the titles of his 12 new songs, “Dodger Blue,” was a nod to his hometown MLB team: the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Now Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts & Co. are the 2024 World Series champions, they are celebrated a little extra with Lamar’s new song.
Here are the details of Lamar’s Dodgers reference in his new album, plus the lyrics to “Dodger Blue.”

In the more low-key song, Lamar says he’s “from the LAnd” and that he’s not “saying you hate LA if you don’t travel past the 10,” referring to Interstate 10, also known as the Santa Monica Freeway.
Although Lamar doesn’t directly reference the World Series champions in the lyrics, the song’s title and the rapper’s support of Los Angeles gave Dodgers fans more reasons to celebrate their team on Friday.

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Dodger Blue’ lyrics
(Introduction)
Ooh
Ooh
(Verse 1)
White diamonds, 2am, they wildin’
B- sick, her comments turned their stomachs
What school did you go to? Gardena, Compton
Westchester, King/Drew, then we’ll get to work
Small n-, but that dog in me, he’s at the top
As for my children, I will give you a sock
Have you ever taken a fade and run three more times in a row?
Oh, you didn’t? Then shut your mouth and keep it quick
Go, go, go
B-, I’m from the LAnd
Don’t say you hate LA if you don’t travel past 10
Am I tripping? Yes, that’s me
Meditate on some money, I see Franklin, I become zen
B-, I’m from the LAnd
Don’t say you hate LA, but live in LA and act like it
My neck on Tarantino, Alejandro, Spike Lee
Just know that you took the scenic route if you support me, stupid
(Choir)
So fly in this b-
Fifty on me, don’t die trying and s- (Ooh-ooh)
You know I’m going up and down when I slide into this b-
Dreamers and the Jets outside in this b-
Westside, get the money, yeah, that’s fo’ sho’
Streets don’t love you, better respect the code
You can’t sleep in on Sunday
When it comes to the money, my n— is on
(Verse 2)
If I come in, oh yeah, bring that
It’s unanimous, how I pop s-
When I come in, h— better check
You’re looking at a bad b—nothing less
Walk, walk, walk, walk
Walk, walk, walk, walk
Tip, toe, twist, walk
Tip, toe, twist, walk
(Outro)
Oops, don’t take it personally
You won’t be the first to know
You might be the first to go
That could just be possible, ooh
Don’t take it personally
You won’t be the first to know
You might be the first to go
That could just be possible
