A 69-year-old man died in hospital on Sunday (December 22) after an alleged fight with his 71-year-old neighbour.
The deceased was identified as Cai Jintong (transliteration) by Shin Min Daily News, which reported that both parties had an argument that morning on the ground floor of Block 805 King George’s Avenue.
According to Shin Min, Cai had visited the neighbor’s apartment while armed with a pole because he was unhappy that the latter did not apologize earlier.
The two started fighting, with the neighbor allegedly armed with a knife.
Cai was injured during the fight and went downstairs, where he reportedly lost consciousness in the elevator lobby.
He is believed to have a heart condition, Shin Min reported.
Police told AsiaOne that they attended the incident at around 11.35am that day.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 69-year-old man and a 71-year-old man had gotten into an argument and had an argument with each other.
The younger man was transported unconscious to hospital, where he subsequently died.
The elderly man was arrested for voluntarily causing pain in a dangerous manner. The police investigation is ongoing.
