In April 2021, he was appointed chief fire officer and general manager.
Mr Pyrce said the medal was “something I never expected to receive in my career”.
“More importantly, I accept it on behalf of all the staff at HWFRS who together provide such wonderful services to our communities every day,” he said.
“My participation in the KFSM is just a reflection of the outstanding fire and rescue service that I have the immense privilege to lead.”
Kit Taylor, chairman of the Hereford & Worcester Fire Authority, said the award was “a testament not only to his hard work, but also to his dedication and support to all of us at the Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service”.
