MISSOULA – Several bursts of moisture are heading to western Montana during the holiday week – just not on Christmas Day.
Similar to what we received this morning, there are chances of precipitation over the next few days. The next round arrives late Tuesday evening (Christmas Eve – early Christmas Day).
Unfortunately, the moisture valve closes on Christmas morning. While this is good for traveling in the valleys, the mountains will still be slippery and muddy all week.
Temperatures are simply too warm for snow to linger at lower elevations as highs reach the upper 30s and low 40s each day this week.
After Christmas Day we do have a greater chance of moderate to heavy precipitation. We are closely monitoring the conditions and will keep you informed about the trips later.
For now, plan for light precipitation with a mostly cloudy Christmas Eve.
