Satechi, known for its high-quality technical accessories, is updating Mac mini hub for the new M4 model. Like previous hubs, Mac mini owners can expand their storage and ports while maintaining airflow, wireless signal and performance. It looks great, but this time the design highlights the problematic nature of the power button placement on the new Mac mini.
On previous Mac mini models, the power button was on the back, making it easily accessible even when in a Satechi hub. The new button placement However, at the bottom of the PC can be even more annoying for anyone who wants to buy this accessory.
While it varies from person to person how often a device like a Mac mini actually shuts down, having to lift the PC out of the hub every time is certainly not ideal. The power button is awkward on its own, but I imagine it’s even weirder with a hub connected.
Anyway, if you can get past that, Satechi’s new hub looks really great. If you run out of storage space on your new MacminiSatechi’s hub offers one of the easiest and cheaper methods to add extra storage space. The new M4 hub supports up to 4TB with speeds of 10Gbps.

Together with the two USB-C ports on the front of the Mac, the hub also adds three USB-A ports and an SD card slot. Although newer peripherals and accessories use USB-C, most people still have multiple devices with USB-A, so these older ports are useful to many consumers. That’s especially important because this new Mac mini is the first not to have USB-A ports.
There will also be a version of the hub without the storage expansion, for those who just want some extra ports.
Both the Mac itself and the hub aim for a minimalist design and a tidy desk, but having to partially dismantle that setup just to turn off the PC is definitely at odds with the product message.
If Satechi’s new hub has tricks up its sleeve to make this design a little less annoying, they haven’t been mentioned so far. However, if it doesn’t bother you, the product will be ready to buy in spring 2025.
