Taste of Korea will raise money for the Hawaii Korean Cultural Center

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – If you love Korean food and culture, the 8th Taste of Korea event will satisfy your hunger while supporting the local Korean community.

Amanda Chang, president of the nonprofit Hawaii Korean Cultural Center, and Chef Pia Lim of Chogajip Korean Restaurant joined HNN’s Sunrise to talk about the fundraiser, which features entertainment and more than twenty different dishes to sample and imported drinks from Korea will offer.

Chogajip is one of the recommended restaurants and serves traditional Korean dishes such as oyster jun and bossam, pork belly cooked in a spicy broth served with fresh kimchi, seasonal vegetable filling and special sauce.

Taste of Korea began in 2014 by sharing Korean culture with Hawaii residents and raising funds to build the Hawaii Korean Cultural Center (HKCC) in Kalihi Valley. HKCC will have a museum of Korean immigration to Hawaii and the Hawaiian independence movement, and a school where Korean culture, language and history will be taught to the public, elementary school students and Kupuna.

The event will take place on November 14 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Japan Cultural Center. Tickets are available for €100 at HawaiiKCC.org.

Visit Chogajip at 1718 Kapiolani Blvd. across from the Hawaii Convention Center or their website chogajip.com. Opening hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. daily.
