(CBS, KYMA/KECY) – Florida Sen. Marco Rubio sat down with Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation Sunday to discuss the Trump-Vance campaign’s closing messages.
Brennan also asked Rubio about racist comments at Trump’s Madison Square Garden Rally.
“A comedian made a joke and it was tasteless, but it wasn’t Trump who said it. This man will not be in his cabinet. This comedian will not become a member of his government. He certainly isn’t. He was a comedian who tells lame jokes all the time. Well, I guess you watch clips of the Tom Brady roast, and you’ll see what kind of jokes he tells. But I think more relevant is the fact that the sitting President of the United States said out loud what most people in the Democratic Party and its hierarchy believe, and that is that anyone who votes for Donald Trump is trash, is a racist, a hater , is a Nazi, as the vice presidential candidate of them has accused everyone who attended the Madison Square Garden rally MSNBC showed footage of Nazi rallies from Germany next to footage of Madison Square Garden a week ago There you asked me: why do they have that much confidence? If you’re so confident of victory, as Harris’s people say, why attack, not Donald Trump, and attack anyone who’s thinking about voting? for him by labeling them as if: if you vote for Donald Trump, you are an evil, horrible human being. That doesn’t look like the actions of a confident campaign. It seems to me the action of someone who is afraid.”

Brennan further asked Rubio about the Trump campaign’s plan to appeal to female voters.
“I would like to point out, and no one is talking about this, that Kamala Harris has a bigger problem among men than Donald Trump has among women. Are there women who will vote for Kamala Harris? Naturally. Are there women who don’t do that? Of course. Are there women who will support Donald Trump? Yes, there are many. And I think you’ll notice that on Election Day. This election is about – when people are going to vote, they’re not going to – they’re going to vote on three things that are critical to them. How much does it cost to live in this country, and can you afford it? things that people work hard to afford because they haven’t for the last four years. Do you feel safe and secure? And the answer is, no, people don’t feel safe when you have dangerous criminal elements coming into this country across the open border that Kamala Harris allowed. And number three is: how close is this country to being drawn into some kind of global conflict? We now have troops from North Korea side by side with Russians on the ground in Ukraine. Every month we move closer to a broader global conflict in which the United States could be involved. And guess who has to fight in those wars? The sons and daughters and the children of the people who are going to decide these elections, and that includes more than half of the country, which is made up of women voters. That’s what’s going to be on people’s minds, and that’s what they should be thinking about, because that’s what’s at stake in this election.”
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Vice Chairman of the Intelligence Committee
During the interview, Brennan and Rubio talked about it Trump’s recent comments about Liz Cheney.
“The point he made is not a new point. It’s a point that’s been made for decades by people in both parties, which is: You’re all for war, and it’s easy to be for war when you are. in a nice building and you’ll be safe and sound in Washington, DC. Let’s see how much you are in favor of war if you yourself are deployed in battle. That’s the point he was making. The fact that he uses language that may not be what we normally use, coming from someone who works at a think tank, is fine. But I think it’s really, not only unfair, it’s egregious to see this being reported the way it was, along with other things that are out there. I’ve never seen such a concerted effort – and look, I’ve always believed there is bias, because no one is unbiased, but I’ve never seen such a concerted effort as what I’ve seen, especially in the last two weeks, across multiple media outlets in this country to, in some cases, breathlessly distort and lie about what is being said, and to create and produce these gotcha moments against Donald Trump. I’ve never seen it before.”

Brennan also asked Rubio about Chinese hacking of U.S. telecommunications systems, which Rubio’s colleague, Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), said was “the most significant breach he has ever seen in his entire time on the committee.”
When asked whether China had access to the audio of US phone calls, Rubio replied:
“I’m not going to comment on what they have access to, but I agree with Mark Warner’s statement. It is a blatant, outrageous and dangerous breach of our telecommunications systems across multiple companies. I’ll leave it at that. I think as time goes on, we’re going to learn more about it. Some of it will be made public. I think there is more to be collected. It is a very serious situation we are dealing with. And I think it’s quite threatening, maybe not directly to the election itself, but certainly to the national security of our country moving forward. It is a vulnerability that no one could have imagined or anticipated, but here it is.”
