Kate Winslet recently had a reunion with one of hers Titanic members of the cast.
The Mare by Easttown star, 49, revealed during the latest episode of The Graham Norton Show that she encountered the cast member during a recording session at London’s Abbey Road studio for the soundtrack of her drama film Lee, in which she worked as both an actress and a producer.
“When we were there, I looked through the glass at the stage where all the musicians are standing – (a) huge orchestra of 120 people – and I looked at this violinist and I thought, ‘I know that face.’ she remembered.
“And then the day goes by and some musicians start saying, ‘It’s (him).’ And they’re kind of pointing at him,” Winslet added, mimicking the gesture.

Winslet said she tried to think of where she had seen the violinist before, even wondering if she was “related” to him. She said she eventually learned of their connection when she went to the orchestra at the end of the day to talk to him.
“So I went in and he said, ‘Kate, it’s me.’ And you know when the Titanic goes downstairs and the violinist gets up and says, ‘Come on, boys,’ and he starts playing. It was that guy!” Winslet shared, referencing actor and musician Jonathan Evans-Jones, who played Wallace Hartley in the 1997 film.
“I thought, ‘It’s you!’ she continued. “It was great!”

Winslet described the chance reunion with Evans-Jones as “amazing,” noting that she has had several encounters with other people she has worked with in the past and enjoys reconnecting with them each time.
“(We had) so many moments like that in the film, where people that I’ve worked with before or that I’ve known for a long time, kind of growing up in the film industry, just showed up for me and it was incredible,” she said.

Winslet – who played the lead role Titanic as Rose Dewitt Bukater alongside Leonardo DiCaprio – has spoken fondly of the James Cameron-directed film over the years. She even took part in a controversial scene that had fans wondering if the character was DiCaprio’s Jack Dawson could have fit on a door wherever she was when the boat was sinking.
When asked if there was ‘room on the door’ for Jack, the Revolutionary way actress responded, “I was like, ‘He’s breaking out the movie.’ Titanic question and then he starts asking me questions about the door.’ I absolutely knew it.”
“But you know, what I want to say that’s really interesting is that people keep calling it a door. It wasn’t even a door, actually,” Winslet explained on the Australian talk show The project earlier this month. “It’s a piece of railing, a staircase or something, that’s broken off.”
“Who knows if (Jack) could have (fit in) there or not. Honestly, I don’t have any insights here that someone else hasn’t already tried to find out,” she added.
